As for great-looking hairstyles and overall hair care, here are some suggestions:

Consult with a good hairstylist. Ask him (or her) what hairstyles will fit you, taking into consideration the shape of your face, the natural shade of your skin, and your lifestyle. Ask him if you should also have some color highlights done on your hair.

Opt for a layered hairstyle that will give your hair a soft, smooth bounce.

To give your straight hair body and bounce, set it with big rollers for at least 30 minutes, and then blow-dry hair. Apply molding mud or styling gel on your hair from the nape going out, and then use your fingers to brush down hair naturally and give it body and style.

Opt for a free-flowing hairstyle for casual occasions. For more formal affairs, put your hair up with the use of hair pins, but let your hair still flow naturally. Fringes to the side of the face are sensuously attractive.

Wash off chemicals (hair spray, styling mousse, sculpting gel) from your hair before going to bed.

Soft, bouncy and layered hairstyles
Hairstyles this year are short and bouncy and layered. “Nothing heavy. It has to have movement, so shorter hairstyles are ‘in.’ But you can wear your hair long, too, if you want to. It must be layered, though, to give it a soft bounce and definition. As for fine or limp hair, you need only a body perm W vivo it softness and bounce,” says a hair expert.

What about the hair color and color highlights that we all went crazy over in the past few years? According to a hairstylist, they will still be very much around this season. “Color highlights give hair a lift, and the shades of the season are brown,” he says.

Hair Care Tips

If hair is limp and thin, try using an electric jumbo hair setter. Rollers only have to be left in the hair for a few minutes for lots of volume. Large rollers also add volume to permed hair.

To protect hair from breakage, use coated rubber bands when pulling hair into a ponytail or braid.

To add extra body to fine hair, use a volumizing styling product. First, apply to root area and style as usual. Finish with a light mist to hold style in place. Silicone in spray provides extra shine, too.

To keep loose ends from flying out of a braid, apply a silicone-based gel to the hair or braid while wet.

To add fullness and lift to hair, apply mousse at roots and blow dry. An alcohol-free mousse also protects hair from heat and sun damage.

To avoid shampoo build-up or residue, use a quarter-size amount of shampoo and lather the scalp and hair. Rinse with cool water.

Keep your hair from drying out or breaking after repeated exposure to the sun by cutting back on blow drying. Air dry it whenever possible. Work a leave-in conditioner through hair before any lengthy exposure to the sun. Try one with an SPF in it.

When all else fails, wear a hat.

No matter what a lot of people tell you, hair loss is not pleasant for anybody. Some individuals who love to cheer up others by saying they should spot “something good in something bad” that’s a part of life. At the same time as it sounds incredibly simple to say, it’s not so simple for those that are actually suffering from the stipulation. So, there is no doubt about it that people who are going through hair loss, are always ready to do anything to get their hair again. In this article we will discuss, what type of minerals you can as a substitute to hair replacement technique in order to get your hair again.

If you are still not quite definite that you are having hair loss presently, it’s better to start off with something supple and simple.

You need a cure that will facilitate the thyroid imbalances or deficiency of iron that may cause hair loss. This means that you need to start taking diet which is high in several sorts of the right minerals. These minerals are present in iron food supplements, and a large number of vitamins.

Intake of minerals facilitates the flaking of the dead cells and results in the formation of new ones. Fresh skin cells formation in the scalp mean fresh hair follicles formation, which eventually generate new hair. This brings positive changes to your hair quickly, since hair loss ends and new hair start to grow on the scalp which was balding previously. The selection of correct minerals really helps a lot in the iron insufficiency or thyroid disproportion that may cause loss of hair.

Reasonable amount of natural foods like whole grains, green vegetables, seafood, onions, rice, meat, fish, brewer’s yeast, soy and dairy products intake on daily basis provide you with all the essential minerals and vitamins that are needed in order to keep your hair in good shape.

Re-growth of hair is only possible if your diet is loaded with proteins, iron, iodine, calcium, magnesium, sulphur, selenium, zinc and silica. According to Recent research silica is one of the most important minerals that is essential for keeping hair strong and healthy.

It seems that no matter how mature we are we can’t stop being concerned about how our hair looks. All the magazines are full of pictures of women in their 20s and 30s. Anyone over 40, or especially over 50, has a hard time finding features concerning making their hair look the best. At this time of life, managing our hair may be a totally different concept than it was 20 years ago. Our hair becomes more brittle, making it more prone to damage, frizz, and split ends. Hair often takes on more gray and for some people it gets thinner. Here are five hair tips especially for women who have begun their second 50 years of life.

Eat Properly for Healthy Hair

There is some truth to the old saying that we are what we eat, and what we eat definitely affects the health of our hair. Vegetables, fruits, and lean protein do the most to nourish your hair from inside. Vitamins are good for overall health too. If you want an abundance of information about good nutrition, look at the guidelines for people with type II diabetes. The diet that is prescribed for diabetics is actually a very healthy way for anyone to eat whether they have the disease or not.

A New You

Don’t let anyone tell you that you are losing your looks. You may be losing a single look, in that it doesn’t work for you anymore, but you have a vast supply of other great looks. Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to have short hair, or that you have to dye your gray hair. It’s your hair, and you can do whatever you want with it.

Keep Hair Thick and Full-Bodied

If your hair has thinned or become limp, sometimes taking off a little length can make it look thicker. If you have beautiful eyes, shorter hair often sets them off beautifully. If you simply cannot give up length, you can have hair extensions added so that you have both length and thickness. Moisturizing shampoo and “extra body” formulated conditioners will help your hair look healthy and thick.

Why not Try a New Color?

If you choose a color very different from your natural color, you’ll have to be diligent about keeping it touched up every six weeks or so, but a professional color job can be like a makeover in itself. If you have quite a bit of gray, consider yourself lucky. Most colors will “take” on the white strands, turning them into highlights in a lighter shade of the overall color you choose.

Highlighting For Convenience

If a complete color change is too much of a chore for you, then consider getting highlighting. This often works remarkably well on women with “salt and pepper” hair. Variations in color make hair seem more movable and less stiff than uniform color.

Keeping your hair healthy if you’re over 50 is really no different than it is at any other age. Eat well, get enough rest, and don’t overprocess your hair. A healthy mane can take years off your look, and there are many options for making your hair work best for your look.

Hair Straighteners are a girl’s best friend. If you have wavy hair (like me) or really curly hair you want to tame into long, luscious locks of straightness, then a hair straightener is your new best friend. If you don’t have the “too much curl” issue, but instead have coarse or thick hair, then a straightener can help tame your tresses.

Yes, your hairdresser may warn against using a hair straightener too much. But if you get a high quality brand with ceramic plates, you can minimize any damage that may happen. Proper leave-in product can also help. It’s still best not to straighten your hair every single day. Give your hair a break once in a while, or at least give it a treat with a super condition or oil therapy treatment to ensure you don’t end up with brittle ends.

Don’t be a scrooge and buy a cheap drug store brand of hair straightener, go for the gold and get the good stuff! A proper salon quality hair straightener will give you superior results every time.

When you move to a new area, there are many relationships that you will need to develop as quickly as possible. Finding quality hair salons can be one of those essential, albeit tricky, tasks. The truth is that not all hair salons are created equal and the place that services your neighbor down the street just might not work for you at all. We have tips for finding quality hair salons that will help you find the perfect salon and stylist for your unique needs.

The first method of finding quality hair salons is to ask around. Ask your neighbor where she gets her hair done. If possible, find someone with a style similar to yours; to ensure they are already familiar with your style and length.

If you are given the name of hair salons that sound promising, the next step could be to make an appointment for a consultation so you get a chance to check out the salon and the stylists. When you walk into beauty salons for this purpose, there are some red flags to watch out for.

First, see if the hair salons appear clean and tidy. Clean salons can be a sign that the stylists take pride in their position. Watch to see if the stylists greet you in a friendly manner when you come in and whether they appear to be listening to their clients’ preferences before working on their hair.

One of my best beauty tips is that if you feel good about the hair salon during your consultation, chances are you would feel comfortable going there on a regular basis.

Hairstyles for women over 40 wishing to change does have its obstacles but the first obstacle to overcome – providing you want to change, of course – is the perfectly natural fear that you may never look the same again. What if I don’t like my new hair style you may think or what if my new hairstyle does not suit me or how can I get my old style back?

This sort of panicking is natural but unfounded. Hairstyles for women over 40 are no more than a series of variations on a simple theme – and it may surprise you to learn that I believe there are actually only nine alternatives. The various patterns can of course be mixed to produce hundreds of different effects, but there are only nine basic cuts, all of which can be grown out or re-styled fairly quickly. So never be afraid of changing your hairstyle.

The only really drastic step as far as changing styles for a women in her forties and older is concerned, is when someone with very long hair decides to have it all cut off. Apart from amazing your friends by having your hair tinted an outlandish color or turning up with a mass of curls when the day before you had completely straight hair, nothing is more dramatic than cutting off ten or twenty years of hair growth, because it will take a long , long time to grow back to that length again.

So think about your decision carefully. If your young you’ll find the decision harder. Your long hair probably suits you and time seems to pass much more slowly and you cannot imagine ever having the patience to wait for it to grow again. If, however, you’ve reached an age when long hair is actually making you look older than you are then it’s time to think about facing those scissors!

As we get older and develop character lines around the face – particularly around the eyes and mouth – long hair tends to emphasise the downward trend of these lines and exaggerate our age. It is for this reason that hairstyles for older women are often shorter and colored with highlights to take the emphasis away from the face.

You can only get away with long hairstyles after a certain age if you can afford to spend a lot of time and a considerable amount of money on your hair. It’s all very well for models and celebrities to wear their hair longer but they have hair stylists at their beck and call. Women in their forties do not have this luxury unless they are very lucky.

So hairstyles decisions for 40+ women wishing to change can not be entered into lightly. Get as much advice as you can from your hairdresser, make sure you have identified your hair type accurately, choose a hairstyle that will work, make sure that you have the right information about caring for your new hair style and remember – the cutting off as a relatively minor event, It’s choosing the right hair style for your new, short hair that is the major one.

We absolutely love talking about hair styles when it comes to making a fashion statement. The most common questions I have been asked has formed my website. The site is packed with information dealing with all aspects of haircuts for women providing up to date information and resources.

An updo is simply arranging the hair in a bun or a pony tail instead of letting it hang freely around the face. These days updos are no longer the formal stiff looking buns and knots that women used to fashion during proms, weddings or other formal occasion. Instead modern updos are more soft, sexy and feminine. Modern updos can now be done quickly and can be worn during any occasion, making an easy DIY updo accessible to any woman.

For the modern woman an updo is not just a fashion statement, it is a must. Mothers and career women feel that they can move around more freely when not constricted by long hair. The updo is not just for straight haired women, they are also for the curly haired. Doing your hair does not have to necessarily mean an expensive trip to the hair salon or the stylists’. It can be done cheaply and in a short time right in your own home.

For the most basic updo, you can just tie your hair in a pony tail and be done with it. Another way to do a basic updo is to gather your hair in one hand and raise it behind your neck. Pull your hair into a twist and secure the twisted hair with hair pins or those specially designed hair-claws. Let the ends hang freely. To add more style, pull some hair out from the side of your face and let them frame your face. By allowing some wisps of your hair to fall freely, your updo is softer and more feminine. You don’t have to worry about your hair being messy despite the clips and hair pins. Most celebrities wear their updos in this messy style. This casual hairstyle can be worn not only at home or at work but can be worn during any event.

For my personal updo, which I wear everyday at home and when I go out. I wash my hair and apply conditioner. I towel dry my hair and if I don’t need to go out I don’t use blow dryers instead opting to have my hair dry naturally. When my hair is finally dry I put on some leave on conditioner or hair gloss. Since I have black hair these products will make my hair shinier. I put on a head band to keep the hair out of my eyes. I usually choose those elastic kinds with colorful patterns. After I secure my head band, I gather the rest of my hair at the back of my neck and depending on my mood I usually secure my hair low, just at my nape, or when I am going out for a night in town with my friends or have to go to a business meeting I secure it in a pony tail high on my head. My hair is shoulder length so instead of finishing the pony tail, and pulling the hair out all the way out the scrunchie, I let a small bun form and arrange the hair I have pulled out to cover the bun and scrunchie. This style is casual and messy but it can be worn to formal occasions too.

The updo is a very versatile hairstyles, so you can personalize it to suit your needs, mood or the event you have to attend. You can try accessorizing your updo with barrettes, hair clips or bobby pins. You can also try curling those loose tendrils with a curling iron if you have straight hair to add variety and style to your updo. A casual messy updo is the best look for any occasion. It is easy and fun to do. This look is easy on the budget too.

Pushed into the spotlight by the popularity of Sarah Palin (or notoriety of Tina Fey), long hairstyles are making a big comeback!

Long hairstyles have long been a favorite of the young-at-heart as well the jet-set and glamour girls. Whether curly or straight or layered into a shag haircut, long hairstyles exude confidence and up-to-date style. Let’s look at several latest trends for the best look with long hair.

Long Hair Updo

Whether you’re a supporter or not, you can’t argue that Sarah Palin has brought back the business casual, long hair Updo. In the past two months there has been a resurgence of the once popular style. Popularized by its sophisticated and versatile look, the long hair Updo works well with eyebrow length bangs as well as a pull-back and over the ears.

Its versatility comes from the non-nonsense business look when pulled-back with the ponytail folded over or under, as well as the more casual appearance when the ponytail is allowed to hang down.

The greatest versatility of the long hair Updo comes from the classic iconic “let your hair down” option at the end of the day. It allows a transition from business to casual a snap while making curly or straight designs work. As an added bonus, the long hair Updo cools you off during the summer or warmer months. Having hair long enough to give you this flexibility can be a welcome relief on a hot day in a suit!

If you are looking for the “I’m a Governor” or business executive look and want the Family-oriented casual look flexibility, a long hairstyle with a Updo is the perfect look for you.

The Long Curly or Straightened Look

This weekend at our son’s Lacrosse game I overheard a conversation between my wife and a close friend. This friend’s son has one heck of a head of hair – curly hair…very curly hair in big waves. She commented that if she didn’t straighten her hair with hair products or use a flat iron, her hair looked the same – big and curly.

Now, if you didn’t know her, this is hard to picture, but she has long (below the shoulder blades) straight and beautifully colored hair.

She has taken a long hairstyle and layered it with the first layer brushing her shoulders and bangs that extend below the ears. This gives her substantial versatility and a range of looks for her long, curly hair.

One, for a casual look she pulls her bangs behind her ears and has the perfect combination of a sorority/soccer mom look – young and playful. With the bangs long enough, she can pull them straight back and pin with a clip, scrunci’ or beret. This gives her the business look she is after at PTA meetings and the hair style looks great.

Though rarely done, she can leave the hair natural and get a great long, curly look. Albeit she takes care to use hair products – leave-in conditioners and moisturizing shampoos – to avoid tangles and the “bird nest” look all too common when long curly hair is left unchecked.

Long hairstyles trends are coming back – fast! They are sophisticated and can give you great versatility and fashion options. Curly or straight, thick or thin, long hair can be beautiful and right for any occasion or personality.

People choose to get hair extensions for many different reasons. For example if their hair is thin or thinning and want to add more volume; if they cut a little too much off last time and want it to be longer; if they have an upcoming event and would like an up do that would otherwise be impossible with their short hair; if they have an inconsistent thickness to their natural hair to even it out. Many different reasons with all one solution-Extensions! There are many different brands and applications of hair extensions so how do you know which one is the best? This will help you understand the Great Lengths method of hair extensions and what makes it the best!

The most common methods of applying extensions are weaving , fusion, clamping with metal tubes or using waxes and polymers, sewn wefts, micro rings, taping, bonding, adhesives, and clip ins. Some forms of extensions can be damaging to the hair and are not recommended for hair that is over-processed from the use of chemical treatments such as relaxing, bleaching, or perms, these can make the hair brittle and prone to breaking. Check with your stylist when in doubt. Great Lengths Extensions uses a patented system which pre-bonds the hair to ensure easy application and long lasting results. The patented protein polymer bond used allows for compatibility with the elements your hair encounters such as heat, water and sunlight. Most importantly after the bonding is dissolved using the Great Lengths removal solution your hair is in a natural state with no damage to the cuticle.

The extent that each form of extensions lasts varies with each application. The sewn wefts way, or “tracks”, usually only lasts from 6-8 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows. With adhesives they can be as short as a day or two before they start coming out, or last up to 4 weeks. Micro rings extensions will last about 3 months. Great Lengths however last an average of 5 months! All of this, of course, depends on how well you maintain the extensions and your hair. Great Lengths easily outlives all the other forms.

With Great Lengths, the choice of colours, lengths, thicknesses and decorative strands allows for hundreds of possibilities for your truly unique and personalised head of hair. There are 40 natural shades, 14 fashion alternate colour shades and Diamond strands, which use Swarovski crystals to choose from. The hair can be further personalised to exactly match your natural colour and style as it is 100% human hair.

The process of consultation with your stylist is an important step to ensure the desired outcome for the Great Lengths extensions is achieved. The colour, length, cut, style, finished look, maintenance and pricing must all be decided. There is a choice of four lengths ranging from 30 to 60 centimetres, depending on how many strands needed the price will vary for the desired look.

Now that you have read a little bit about the Great Lengths way of extensions you can make an educated decision on what you want in your hair! You can always consult your stylist if you have any questions about extensions. Get them today, for all your hair dilemmas.
