While Christmas may seem like a long way off, for some it’s about that time of year to start thinking about gift ideas for the men in your life. Finding new gift ideas for men year after year can sometimes be a challenge. Especially for that man in your life who just seems to have everything!

A good place to start is thinking about the usual after work type of things he likes to do. What kinds of hobbies is he interested in? Does he have a favorite restaurant or store? Gift cards may seem like the easy and maybe not-so-personal type of gift card. But if you just can’t decide on a gift , that’s a good choice. But clothing is almost always something a man needs.

When buying clothing for men, you may want to avoid the typical cheesy tie! If your guy is a clotheshound, sneak a peek in his closet or find out the kinds of brands he usually buys or wears. Or, if your man just isn’t fashion savvy, a casual yet dressy type of shirt is a safe bet. Finding mainline menswear is as simple as doing a search online or going to his favorite store.

If it is clothing you go for, make sure you know his shirt/neck or pant size. Again, a peek in the closet is a sure way to find out. Most online stores provide a size chart or let you shop by size. If you just aren’t sure on the size, ask his mom! I bet she’ll know for sure.

No outfit is complete without the right pair of shoes. With summer round the corner, open toes and sandals are hitting the fashion scene more than ever and the warm weather gives daring women’s shoes the chance to come out of the closet and accentuate the perfect summer outfit. With all the cheeky fashion trends in clothing at the moment like heavy prints and bright, bold colours, this summer’s shoe fashions are artfully a little more subtle, in neutral tones like champagne, caramel and taupe.

Legs are going to be out a lot this summer with trends like hot pants and play suits causing women to be bare from the thigh down. Shoes therefore need to help shape the legs, so a slight heel is complementary, but they should also be practical and walkable. Wedges are the perfect combination of fashion and function, as they add height but also give good support and you can walk comfortably, and even run, when wearing them. For a feminine touch if you feel wedges are a little too clunky try a pair with toe peep holes.

However, women aren’t just going to be walking around this summer. With warm weather on the way, women want to get out and about playing sports and staying active, and it’s important to choose the right pair of womens trainers to keep you supported but still looking fashionable. Cushioned trainers are very popular at the moment as they offer excellent comfort and many makes are also fashionable to keep you looking good. Specialised running trainers may be expensive, but they offer the peak of trainer comfort and fashion and are worth an investment as they will last a good amount of time without needing replacing. Traditional running trainers are white with brightly coloured accents, but more and more designs are being released in warm, earthy colours which look smarter and more sophisticated.

Women generally fall in to one of four different body types. These four body types translate to four different shapes. All women are unique in their body type, but knowing which category you fall in to will give you a head start on filling your wardrobe with clothes that flatter you and all your beautiful uniqueness. These four shapes are classified as apple, pear, hourglass and rectangle. Once you determine which shape most closely fits your body, then you are ready to learn what styles you should lean towards and which ones you need to stay away from.

A woman with an apple shaped body would probably point to her midsection as the place she wants to camouflage and hide. These body types tend to be round around the middle with broader shoulders. But these women usually have legs to be proud of, so don’t be afraid to show your assets. Tunics with short skirts will look fabulous on you as the simple, full tunic top masks any tummy trouble while the hemline shows of the legs. For other options on tops that will look good, gravitate to the empire or high-waisted styles. To give the illusion of a smaller waistline, look for wrap style tops, or jackets that are cinched in at the waist, with plenty of structure.

If you have the pear or triangle body shape, you will want to bring your audiences’ attention to the top half of your body. Put your splashes of color and light solids on top and use darker bottoms to balance your shape. Try to find tops with wide or scoop cut necks. This widens your shoulders which will balance your hips. If you wear suits and jackets, keep the cut of the jacket right to the top of the hip. Use boot-cut bottoms or A-line skirts to flatter your bottom half.

For the hourglass body shapes, you will want to draw attention to the natural curve of your body. This is achievable with styles that show off your waist. Try to purchase clothing with a defined waist. Wrap dresses are definitely your friend here. Don’t go with the low-rise, instead opt for a higher waisted pant or skirt. To create a longer line, try a top with a dominate V-cut neckline.

If you fall into the rectangular body shape category, then you have a very slender build to your body. You will want to create the illusion of curves with your clothing choices. Lean towards jackets with cinched waists and tops with necklines that are scooped or cut in to a V. Low rise and flared jeans will help define some thighs (and count your blessings that you need to work on defined thighs!). You are one of the lucky body types that really look good in a layered look. Don’t go bulky, but a slender body can support more clothes without adding unwanted proportions. Layer colors and patterns to break up the straight look for your body.

Ads and magazine covers typically feature very similar looking women. The top actresses and models are almost all stick thin with long arms and legs, with maybe a few curves added by way of plastic surgery. Do you know anyone in real life who looks like that? I don’t.

Some women are naturally thin, but certainly not the majority. Most women have curves and range in height from very short to very tall, whereas models pretty much have to be at least 5′ 8″ or taller. The fashion industry selects these women because they show clothing well, but that’s exactly why a lot of women can’t quite figure out what the clothes on the runway look on normal sized women who don’t have the option of surgically sculpting a perfect body.

Here are some of the classic, dependable ways you can incorporate some of the trends into your wardrobe.

If your overall shape is full-figured, be careful of clothing with lots of layers and clothing that is tight. You can find pieces made to cling nicely to your figure’s assets, like a full bust or hips, while draping quietly over the other parts of you. If you’re naturally thin, then you can probably more easily wear some of the runway looks. Layers often look really good on thin women.

In general, feminine shapes look good in rounded necklines. Even v-shaped necklines can be cut so as to have a slight curve to them. Thin women can look smashing in a bateau neckline, which comes up to the collar bone but is open from shoulder to shoulder. Audrey Hepburn wore this type of neckline well.

Keep in mind that “skinny jeans” are not the same as “tight jeans,” and that “skinny” refers more to the way the jeans are cut than their size. Obviously if you have long legs, you should go for it. Just make sure you buy a pair that fits. Don’t try to squeeze into jeans that are too tight. They won’t look skinny, they’ll just look like you should have bought another size. Even curvaceous women can adopt the “skinny jean” look by selecting jeans that fit well in the waist and hips and that have straight cut legs – neither flared nor pegged.

High heels are pretty much always in fashion, though there may be one particularly hot style during a given season. You don’t have to go for the 4-inch heels with the 1-inch platform to look great. A pair of “go-to” black pumps that don’t torment your feet and have a classic shape will serve you well for years. If you want to try the “nosebleed-high” heels, practice walking in them before taking them public.

jackets must be cut very well to flatter a curvaceous figure. Styles that go in at the waist then gently flare compliment a curvy figure. It is also important that the shoulders of the jacket line up with your actual shoulders. Otherwise the jacket will simply look too large for you.

Accessories are one of the best ways to make a look your own. If you have a graceful, long neck, choker necklaces and pendants will look good. If you have a small waist, a beautiful leather belt can emphasize it. If you have nice legs, a pencil skirt will look great on you. If it’s summer and you have beautiful feet, then wear sandals whenever you can to show them off.

Face it: runway fashion looks rarely translate into realistic looks for normal life. But you can certainly pick and choose among a season’s trends to find some that flatter your figure’s most attractive parts.

Ever wondered if there were some actual easy things one could do to make their appearance, or wardrobe stretch further than it would without other intervention? Some things are quite easy, as you’ll soon see.

Maybe you’re short, and would like to look a few inches taller but don’t feel comfortable in heels? Try wearing mini skirts (if it’s age approriate, or longer if not) it’ll stretch and elongate your figure. Make sure that when you buy a new bra, you see a fitting person at the department store or specialty department. Wearing the correct fitting item makes you feel like a million dollars – even if it isn’t the latest fashion trend. Or, possibly if you use perfume a lot, or have a lot you just haven’t gotten to yet, you can take a small bit of water and mix the two, making a new concoction. Add some glitter, and you’ve got a whole new product..

When wearing close fitting pants, or capris, wear thongs or G-strings. If you are sporting light colored tight pants, ONLY wear nude colors. All other colors may be visible! White undergarments will glow in some lighting, and dark underwear will may be seen from a good distance away. One thing that seems extremely effective in some places, to keep cost down, is hit consignment shops. Second hand boutiques, get the brand names for cheaper with minimal wear and tear. Or, even if there’s a moderate amount of use built into it, use it to form a wardrobe completely YOU!

Go with what you feel comfortable in. Don’t worry about what everyone else is weating – accessorize and make every outfit your own. Go with what you like. Wear colors that match your eyes, and items that show skin in areas you want attention payed to. Making your own wardrobe is like crafting an amazing piece of artwork. Not only will you be proud of it, but many others will take notice as well.

With the worldwide economy slowing down, more people than ever are looking to scale back their spending. This can be a problem for those who love to stay on top of current trends. The good news is that by cleverly recycling vintage jewelry you can have a stylish look for a small price.

Vintage jewelry can be found at thrift stores, on eBay or in your grandmother’s jewelry box. Learn about different periods of jewelry styles so you’re familiar with how much pieces should cost and how to tell fakes from the real deal.

The trend is becoming so popular there are even designers who specialize in vintage pieces. Winnipeg jewelry designer Dayle Goertzen is the owner of Vintage Bling, a jewelry company that recycles old, broken pieces and uses them in new ways. This eco-friendly technique creates beautiful unique pieces.

You can do the same thing by looking for vintage pieces that need a little updating. Crystals from a broken necklace can be transformed into a pair of earrings. A bracelet with some missing parts can be filled in with bead store finds. With a few simple jewelry making tools and a little creativity, you can have your own vintage inspired pieces.
