contemporary blue bedroomIf you are getting bored of your current bedroom design theme, it may be time to update your bedroom furniture. Depending on your budget, this may involve buying new, gently used or even a coat of paint on your current bedroom set. Here are a few quick tips and guidelines to help you decide how to update your bedroom on a budget.

  1. Paint the room. Adding a coat of paint to the room will give you the most bang for your buck. Paint isn’t overly expensive (even eco-conscious paint) and though it is more time consuming than changing sheets, the impact is immediate and obvious.
  2. Change accessories. If you are happy with the color of your walls, changing the linens, draperies and bedside table accessories can quickly give you that updated look.
  3. Furniture placement. Whether you are using adjustable beds or bunk beds, new mattresses or old, you can change the location of your bedroom furniture very easily.
  4. Update your furniture. Painting, staining or reupholstering your current furniture can make a huge difference to your bedroom’s atmosphere.
  5. Add new focus. Change the light fixture, add a chandelier or a new padded headboard.

Your options are limitless with a bit of vision and creativity. Updating your bedroom doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
