Acne is something nearly everyone has experienced at one time. It’s often painful and can cause confidence issues or embarassment. Here are a few myths about acne.
1. Acne results from stress
Stress has no direct effect in resulting acne. However, stress increases the creation of cortisol in our body. Coritsol influences sebaceous glands in our skin secrete more sebum oil that may block our skin pores.
2. Is Acne contagious?
No; Acne is not contagious; it is not communicable.
3. Acne is only for teenagers.
Acne is common at any age after or during puberty.
4. Sunlight helps cure acne.
The sun may tan the skin clearing up blemishes and turn the skin reddish. It may lessen the overall effect. But sun rays cause damage to skin and irritate the existing acne. It may further block the pores as skin cells dry up.
5. There is no permanent cure of acne.
